Remembering

(May 28, 2010) Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day (referring to decorating the graves of war dead), is a day to remember all those who have died in service to our country. The federal holiday is observed on the last Monday of May and many communities hold parades and services to honor American veterans.

Check out Recorder Community Newspapers and the blogs here at their websites for details of those observances as well as other happenings in the area.

Other groups and individuals interested in communicating online via a blog on their Recorder Newspaper's website are invited to call me at (908) 832-7420 or e-mail panderson@recordernewspapers.com. I will be happy to explain how to join the 40+ bloggers already using this 21st century multi-media tool to get out their messages over the Internet. It is simple and free.

Goin' with the flow

(May 17, 2010) We're keeeping pace with the 21st century. Because readers are doing more and more online, Recorder Community Newspapers are beefing up their online presence by adding blogs to their websites. When readers check out the latest community news online, they also can see postings by 40+ local bloggers who regularly communicate with words, pictures and/or videos among the 15 Recorder Newspapers' sites on the Internet.

Another small example of "goin' with the flow" is the recent change in the Associated Press Stylebook (our copyediting bible). Because of widespread usage, "website" replaces the original "Web site" as the listed spelling for this Internet term.

Any group or individual who would like to join the growing group of Recorder bloggers may call me at (908) 832-7420 or e-mail panderson@recordernewspapers.com for information on this free real-time communication tool. You need only a computer and an e-mail address to create your blog. The setup is simple and we will effect the connection to your Recorder Newspaper's website.

(May 7, 2010) May 9, the second Sunday in May, is Mother's Day. Happy day to all mothers, grandmothers and those who serve as mothers.

Whatever the special treat, all mothers appreciate the remembrance more than the gift. So remember Mom this weekend with a call, a card, an invitation. It's her day.

Also, check out the blogs here on Recorder Community Newspapers' Web sites. There may be some activities for families to celebrate this weekend.
